Monday Mayhem #2 - The Valentine's Meme

Happy Valentine’s Day my dear friends! What are your plans for today? As for me, I will be with my kids, as usual, and if laziness will not creep in to me later this day, we will probably go out for a dinner.

In honor of Valentines Day, today's meme is all about the things that we love. For each prompt, name something you love.

1. Name a food that you love.

Anything pasta. May it be lasagna, fetuccine bolognese, carbonara, name it!

2. Name someone that you love.

If it has nothing to do with romantic love then I say that I love my kids and I don’t have to explain why. BUT, if this question is pertaining to a romantic involvement, my answer would be Chris Pine. He’s the apple of my eye.

3. What kinds of ice cream do you love?

I like pistachio, mint chocolate, or brownie nut fudge.

4. What would you love to receive for Valentine’s Day?

A massage gift certificate would be nice. J A romantic getaway for two with Chris Pine will really blow me away!

5. What meal would you just love to eat for dinner?

For appetizer, pigs in blanket or pesto bites would do fine. Glazed lamb is great as a main course! And for dessert, the very best chocolate lava in town. Served with wine of course.

6. What is something that you learned to love?

I kind of learned to love myself more now. It’s quite scary for a moment because when I embraced myself and my whole being I started to be skeptical of other people and romantic love.

7. Tell us something that we would love.

I have a confession to make. I am a princess. However, I am a tranny. You can call me a Princess Tranny.

8. What is your definition of love?

Love is not overrated; people just abuse its purpose. It is a mysterious thing that makes people do outrageous acts.

9. What is it that you love more than anything?

I love being a mom even though I am not a perfect one and I have my lapses. Seeing my twins giggle so hard because of their eldest brother is a 7th heaven for me. And receiving a hug and hearing compliments like, “Mom you are beautiful and sexy” even though I know they’re only half meant gives me a certain high that is capable of melting my heart.

This is the only Monday Meme that I have done so I will be biased.

When Winning Isn't Everything

For a couple of weeks now I have been participating in a game at DigiShopTalk wherein there is a random giveaway given when the contest host says STOP. Basically you have to post in the particular forum thread and cross your fingers or try your luck. It’s that easy, and so far contest winners have been given kits, coupons and the biggest prize of all – unlimited access to the host’s store.

I thought of it as a great opportunity at first, not being a part of any CT, joining the contest will help me hoard kits to scrap at my leisure time. And then I met the people I am in the competition with. I am not really a sociable type of person but if you embrace my craziness then I get to loosen up and be funny. Posting in the thread is not about the contest anymore, it was more like a seal of friendship that I had made in digiscrapping world.

Don’t get me wrong, I have had a few acquaintances when I was in a CT of several designers but the friendship somehow just ended when I left the team. But now I have met very nice people from different parts of the world! Our time zones are absurd but we get to cause clamor in the thread all at the same time. So I have had sleepless nights recently and I have been late for work too. However, getting to know the girls is a priceless thing and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. I wonder what happens when the contest ends. Somehow, posting in the thread doesn’t seem like a competition. Getting to know the girls and being friends with them is a big prize enough for me.

MLAS - The Final Curtain Call

Participating in digiscrap challenges is really not my thing until I stumbled upon My Life and Scrap (MLAS) where there was a lyrics challenge and the challenge master had this dare that if the challenge gets a lot of participants, she will do a headstand. To make the long story short, we got our headstand.

MLAS has played a vital part in my digiscrapping life because that’s where I started. That’s where I explored the big world of digital scrapping and I know that you would understand my sadness when I received my last newsletter from MLAS announcing that the store is closing. Oh why but why? I do not know.

So as a tribute to MLAS, I am making this post to give my hats off to the owners at MLAS. Here are some of my fondest memories of the store.

1. I was able to meet designers who hired me to be in their CT. As a beginner, I felt so honored to be hired you know. It’s a lot different than applying though the perks are the same.

2. The people in MLAS had motivated me to do things that I was hesitant to do, like applying as a CT member of my favorite designers. “There’s nothing to lose” is what the girls always tell me.

3. There was one time when MLAS had to shut down because they are transferring to a better server and the transfer took longer than what we had expected. We all suffered from severe MLAS withdrawal. And lastly,

4. I purchased my first kit at MLAS, and it was just not a kit for my own consumption but the kit was for the benefit of a charity institution that the owners and designers are supporting.

And as the final curtain call for MLAS, here are two layouts I created in the challenges.

The first page was an entry to the font challenge and the second one was for the lyrics challenge that I was talking about. Anyway, as MLAS final call before their dramatic closing on Valentine's Day, they are having a SALE in all of the kits.

This Sunday we ripped off a blogger named Rol Hirst at the blogSunset Over Slawit. We've ripped from him once before. He states that he doesn't remember where he stole it. I used to be a Red Cross volunteer so I have to say, CPR.

I already know a bit of swing and waltz so I need to learn how to do the salsa.

10. What’s the worst news you’ve ever delivered to someone?

Death of a relative. I don’t know where to start but I have to say it anyway.

I learned to climb mountains and live in the woods. However, I could only last for a week at tops.

What's Your Scrapping Style?

I was never an element person; my style is clean and simple. I think I have this fondness for papers and fonts with a lot of love for journaling. Although at times there instances where I try not to do journaling because I hate it when I get so chatty that I type the keyboard so hard – that’s how passionate I am with speaking my mind. Anyway, I still don’t know what my style is but I know one thing for sure: I work better when under pressure. But don’t we all?

Which style do you think I can do better? If you notice I rarely do clustering ((because I don’t know how) and I seldom use too many elements. I think clean and simple is my thing. But I do envy scrappers who can pull off such thing!

Anyway, I received a very nice email this afternoon when I came home from work. I found out that I won in Skute Design's kit-naming contest and I won a whooping $10 gift certificate to her store at Scrap Angels Shop! So Karina's been having some difficulty in naming her girl-themed kit and she doesn't want the common names like Sugar and Spice to be the title. That's how she thought of the contest and I gave her the name DIVATTITUDE which of course was derived from the phrase that I thought of a long time ago which is "diva with an attitude." So there, I won a GC and I also get to snag her Boys R Us (a boy themed kit, this is somewhat the inspiration in making the girl kit) kit and also the Div@ttitude (it is not being released yet but I got it already and it is soooo cute!). As to how I am going to spend my GC? I am waiting for the right moment yet because it is so hard to pick! However, Skute Design is on sale right now so you might want to check it out!

Why Preschool

Being a preschool educator has its ups and downs. Whenever I go to our division office for transactions, the people there ask me what grade level I am teaching and whenever I say I teach preschool, they will always reply with “WHY PRESCHOOL?” My answer will always be, “Why not? It’s fun.”

Teaching preschool children has more ups than downs. Yes of course your energy will get drained after all that singing, dancing and animations that you do –and I do it twice a day since I am handling two sessions. Physically draining, yes but the fruit of your labor is priceless.

Why Preschool? The kids are genuine people; they are very honest and kind hearted. They will believe whatever it is that you say. Heck, they believe you more than their own parents! Aside from that, I love the look of innocence in their eyes. I love the way when they forget about themselves and suddenly they call me “Mama, Ina or Ma” – that’s priceless.

Why Preschool? I love children and I love to hear stories from their mothers about their progress. A few weeks ago, a mother asked me how come whenever she teaches her child two lines of a poem for the whole day, her child will never get to memorize a line but when the child spends at least an hour in school, she can memorize a stanza of the poem. My answer was, “It’s magic.” LOL

Why Preschool? Because I like it when my pupils tell me that I am beautiful; one pupil of mine was reportedly bragging to her playmates at home that her teacher is beautiful. Her playmates ended up visiting our classroom to confirm if she’s telling the truth or not. LOL. I gave all of them lollipops as a bribe since I looked like a trash that day.

Why Preschool? I can tell you a number of things more but I don’t want to gloat myself.

Monday Mayhem #1

This is my first time to join Monday Mayhem and I think that this is going to be fabulous!

Today's meme is all about the headlines in the news. For each headline- finish or embellish the title and add a brief description (one sentence is cool). Don't forget, this is supposed to be fun because we are Über cool people!


1. Man hospitalized after being hit in road

The 38 year old man reported to have suffered from amnesia after the accident and was said to be forgetting that he has a wife. He refused to go home insisting that he should be left alone to create new memories.


2. Suspicious package just food in a bag

The package was left unattended at a local church which left the people attending the mass alarmed. Upon calling the FBI and SWAT and upon clearing the said area, a little boy went inside the church to get the package which turned out to be some kind of a takeout a Happy Meal from Mc Donald’s.


3. Parrots tend to be "left handed," study finds

Acclaimed researchers have found out that the parrots are left handed. Too bad we cannot see them write.


4. Palin: America out of step with Reagan's values

5.Opinion: Why refs 'swallow the whistle'

Further investigation on ball games and other competitive sports said that the referees/umpires in the games may be having anxiety attacks whenever the game is in full throttle. I think that they may be anxious whether or not they call on a bad call so that they can win the bet back home.


6. Man gets 9 years in cartoon attack

A reputable suburban man was charged of 9 years imprisonment after having attacked the mascot of Looney Tunes’ Porky Pig. The man claimed that Porky Pig ruined his life although he did not elaborate on why.


7. Lohan's attorney denies actress stole necklace

Lindsay Lohan’s representative Atty. Mohan has denied allegations that his client stole a piece of jewelry Sunday night. Atty. Mohan was quoted saying, “Miss Lindsay Lohan may be a drug junkie, she may be a lot of things, but never a thief.” Lindsay and her family are all mum about the allegation.
