2010 Nutrition Month Celebration

It's July once again which means we are celebrating Nutrition Month. According to DEPED, the theme for 2010 Nutrition Month Celebration is "Healthy Lifestyle ng Kabataan, Landas sa Kinabukasan," the celebration focuses on the nutrition and health needs of Filipino adolescents and children. Its particular focus is on the consumption of nutritious food to prepare them for adulthood and instill in them the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

I have still not decided what presentation we are going to have in this year's celebration but I want this year to be different. We have been dancing or demonstrating exercise routines for the past two years so this year I want it to be unique. I was thinking of a poem and song delivery by the kids but I still do not know how to organize them since my pupils this year are more rowdy than the past.

I want the kids to sing "Bahay Kubo" because I want them to learn the folk songs in the Philippines. For those who wanted to download the music, you can do so by clicking here: Bahay Kubo. The culmination of the Nutrition Month celebration will be on July 30 so we still have plenty of time to practice. Wish us luck!

Free Filipino Worksheets

I love using worksheets, especially during those times when I get so busy with paper works and the kids get restless -worksheets sure do come in handy. Whenever I get lazy in creating a quiz, I search for worksheets online and then print them, photocopy, and voila! Instant classroom activity!

However, worksheets in Filipino (online speaking) are scarce so as an educator, I have decided to do my part in my online responsibility and help my fellow teachers as well. Here are a few worksheets I have made for you to download. Click on the links below and have fun teaching!

MGA BAGAY NA NAGSISIMULA SA TITIK A / LETRANG A

MGA BAGAY NA NAGSISIMULA SA TITIK E / LETRANG E

MGA BAGAY NA NAGSISIMULA SA TITIKI I / LETRANG I

So far, these are just a few of what I have created and if by chance you have any suggestion or requests, feel free to tell me by commenting or sending me an email at cmars2 [at] gmail [dot] com.

Have a happy teaching!

A Story of a Late Bloomer

Laugh out now for I am going to relate a very stupid story which makes me look antiquated.

Back when I was in high school, I have watched John Travolta and Nicholas Cage's Face Off and up to now I still don't get tired of watching it over and over again. I am such a fan of the two. However, I haven't seen Travolta's Phenomenon and Cage's Con Air - no matter how hyped they were in the past. But late last night when I was about to sleep, I saw on Star Movies that Con Air will be shown and I swore to myself that I will watch that film no matter how outdated it is. And so I did, and it was such an achievement for me to be able to finish a movie without winking. It was indeed good.

Anyway, this morning, I was hoping for a re-run of Con Air but Travolta's Phenomenon is being shown so I snuggled up and watched the movie early morning today. Yes I know it's baseless and outdated, but I was happy having watched those movies. I kind of felt that my weekend was worthy. Hahaha! Have a blessed Sunday!
